Dangerous intersections (Goepp, Union, Broad)

From "Complete Streets"

Go to the project

I understand why Maple is the selected road here (this is the way I currently ride to Church St), but it's definitely not a perfect route.

While cars get traffic lights and long stretches of uninterrupted/protected travel a block over on Linden, Maple has several stop signs at busy intersections (Goepp, Union, Broad). At these locations, east-west traffic generally has the right-of-way, while Maple traffic must stop. (Union westbound is the exception, as it also has a stop sign; eastbound traffic does not.)

A crossing treatment such as a HAWK beacon, combined with a median refuge island and other traffic-calming features, could help people biking and walking cross safely without creating major disruptions to traffic, especially where Maple meets Goepp and Broad.
