Dewberry Doesn't Qualify For Safe Bike Boulevards
From "Complete Streets"
Go to the project
The current amount of car traffic as well as the 35 MPH speed limit on Dewberry Ave. make it unsuitable for a bike boulevard to be adequate or safe bike infrastructure.
Dewberry is nearly 40 feet wide which encourages drivers to drive even faster than the speed limit which exasperates the safety problem.
This street is wide enough for parking on both sides which is unmarked and unused because all the houses on Dewberry have driveways and parking on a high speed road poses serous safety issues. All the extra space could be better used as proper protected bike lanes which would connect multiple neighborhoods to Illicks Mill safely. Painting sharrows would do nothing to make this road more accessible than it already is.
