Great question! A bike boulevard is a shared vehicle-bicycle lane on low speed and low volume street that
has appropriate traffic calming measures. (Think the roadways with the bike marking on them saying to share the road). Physical separation is ideal, however residential roads typically offer slower speed/ less stress environments, so in a bike boulevard, bikes and vehicles mingle a bit more.
I hope that helps!
What is a bicycle boulevard?

I live on a street labeled a bicycle boulevard but I have no idea what that is. Can you clarify?

Thanks. I live on West Market Street, and it should be great for biking but is not, primarily because of very poor visibility at intersections but also because there is not enough traffic calming (we need speed bumps!). For some reason, the City of Bethlehem allows cars to park all the way up to intersections, while in most cities you are not allowed to park within 30 feet of a stop sign or intersection. In this neighborhood, there is heavy street parking, and people have to roll way out into every intersection to see past parked cars. I really worry all the kids biking to and from school around here because the visibility is so bad.
