W Riedy2 months ago As a pedestrian, it is difficult to cross the Union / 378 / Conestoga intersection. Difficult on both north and south side of the street (north side currently closed).There are no crosswalks or traffic lights. The presence of slip ramps on either side means that cars do not need to slow before turning, and often don't use turn signals. As a pedestrian, I therefore have to assume that every car is turning before entering the roadway.This intersection is at the trailhead to Monocacy Way, a popular walking trail, and also an approach to the Colonial Industrial area and festival grounds.

W Riedy2 months ago Motorized dirt bikes and heavy "e-motos" (electric motorcycles without functional pedals) are illegal on multi-use pathways, including the D&L Trail. However, Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are allowed provided they are pedaled, weigh under 100 lbs, and have motors of 750W or less. Post signs that clarify laws on class 3 ebikes + emotos on trails. Then enforce those laws."bikes" exceeding the legal limitations are seen every day traveling safer than conditions warrant, not sharing the trail, and causing erosion.

W Riedy2 months ago In some places, the road is not wide enough for 2 cars traveling at speed limit. This includes under the Broad Street bridge, and the area around 633 Conestoga st, especially when there are cars parked at the residence, when there are pedestrians or cyclists or parked cars.(2)Calling out the area around 633 Conestoga st: If there are cars parked there, when I am traveling southbound, I am fully blind to oncoming traffic as it comes around the curve, and as I need to move left to avoid the parked cars. I am average height for a woman, in an average height car, and I can not see over or around the parked cars. (3)Exiting Conestoga St onto Union blvd or 378 has no traffic light, and can get very backed up.I have seen lots of folks get frustrated and pull out into traffic when it is not safe. There have been a lot of crashes here. Traffic apps, including Waze, Google Maps, and Apple Maps regularly guide people to use Conestoga north to get from downtown to 378. Then they have a hard time crossing Union blvd because of traffic. They would be better served with an alternate route.(4)As a pedestrian, when walking on Union blvd, there is no easy way to cross the intersections on Union blvd/Conestoga St/378. Slip ramps on both sides of Union blvd mean that cars can travel at a high rate of speed and still turn. Often not signaling. It’s difficult to know when it is safe to cross. Having one less direction of traffic would help. Note that this is access to a trailhead (Monocacy Way) and access to the Colonial Industrial Area / festival grounds. (ps, a crosswalk anywhere would help, too).
