Climate Justice
The City delivers direct services
- Community Garden Plots: The Health Bureau created community garden plots at Clearview Park, Rockland Park, and Yellis Tract.
City Supports Service Delivery through funding sources:
- The City of Bethlehem allocated $50,000 from the Community Recovery Fund towards Climate Justice Implementation.
- The Coalition for Appropriate Transportation : The Coalition for Appropriate Transportation (CAT) supports the Bicycle Cooperative & Bike/Pedestrian Safety Program. The CAT Bicycle Cooperative is a hub for activity--CAT's Transportation Education Center. CAT offers open hours at least four days per week for the public to build and repair their own bikes, participate in Basic and Advanced Bike Mechanics Classes, Traffic Skills classes, Women's clinics, volunteering. The CAT Bicycle Cooperative is also where CAT coordinates community outreach events. A second project was funded for CAT to establish its new location in the Walnut Street Garage, enabling them to better serve the community and advance its mission of promoting sustainable transportation in a more accessible space.
City Collaborates and strategizes with service providers:
- 3 City Coalition: The 3 City Coalition 3 City Coalition was created by Mayor Reynolds, Mayor Tuerk, and Mayor Panto to address the issues of homelessness, affordable housing, and sustainability to mitigate crises that are affecting our most vulnerable communities in Bethlehem, Allentown, and Easton.
