Buffered Bike Lane on Washington Ave may aid pedestrians crossing at Linwood

Ir al proyecto

I am pleased to see Washington Ave included in this plan and I hope the addition of a buffered bicycle lane might help calm automobile traffic between Easton and Stefko, particularly around Linwood where children cross to/from Northeast Middle School. Vehicles fly through this area and honk at pedestrians without stopping, despite the crosswalk. The posted crossing guards are effective but only when they are present, which does not help kids walking at other times (for example, due to extracurricular activities like band before school or sports practices after school) or the summer. I believe an increased presence of cyclists will also benefit pedestrians by making drivers more aware that they must share the road. Hopefully, they will also slow down to adhere more closely to the posted speed limit.
