Setting goals to increase tree cover

Desde "comité de edificios"

There is abundant research that urban trees help reduce the costs of cooling buildings and improving health outcomes in neighborhoods. Can the city find a way to increase the number of street trees that are planted around new construction?

Even better, can we find ways to support construction without destroying all the full-grown trees? Although some large trees near new construction have to be removed for access to the site and the remove roots near foundations, some trees could be preserved with careful placement of fences and access points. Could the city support that kind of effort through appropriate traffic redirection?
