The intersection at West 3rd and New Steet

South End of the Fahey Bridge

This intersection is extremely unfriendly for both drivers and pedestrians.

Cars at the south end of the bridge attempting to make a left turn on West Third Street do not have a left turn signal. However, cars approaching this intersection from the North have a left turn signal have a left turn signal for turning east onto West Third. There should be left turn signal for both North and South directions of traffic.

The pedestrian street crossing at the south end of the Fahy is terrible. Drives at this end of the bridge do not have a No Turn on RED pause for pedestrian to safely cross this intersection. Because there is No Turn on RED, drives wanting to make a right turn onto West Third, roll into the pedestrian cross. There no time that pedestrians has an unobstructed path to cross the street safely. I contrast this with the North- End of the bridge, there is a no turn on Red period and additionally there is a flashing caution light altering drives of the pedestrian crossing. This is quite a stark contrast between how the Northside is viewed differently than the Southside. If we're ever able to bring our community together, we must change the current view that vehicular traffic trumps all other forms of transportation.

The section of West Third, just pass the Fahey Bridge.

I'm very concerned with car traffic versus pedestrian, bicycle traffic just West of the Fahey Bridge. This section of road up to Broadhead is very pedestrian friendly. With the grand opening Banana Factory new home and two hotels just across the street, we need to have a pedestrian crossing on demand between the north and side of the street in this section. If this concern is not address prior of the Banana Factory and new hotel opening, there will be a high probability a pedestrian or bycyclist will get hurt. This section of the street is dimly illuminated at night and drives trend to accelerate in this section of the road.
