Speed humps like those on Main St. Ext. and Paternoster, or bumps like in town on Main St.

Thank you for installing a speed indicator on Highland driving north from Union. That's a good first step! Is it permanent? Maybe another one heading south from Eaton?

Good afternoon,
I am aware of your letter addressing concerns for speeding on Highland Ave.
The Complete Streets Plan will classify all our streets into "Street Types" and based on the street type classification, we will be provided a list of best practice tools that are used to increase safety. One of those tools may very well be speed humps like you are referencing.
Admittedly, this plan will likely not be finalized until later next year, however your concerns are moving through the appropriate channels, and any action will be determined by relevant staff members.
We truly appreciate understanding the lived experience, and welcome further feedback on areas surrounding your neighborhood. This plan will be community driven, therefore when future decisions on improvements are made, feedback from this process will rise to the forefront.
Thanks again,
Corey Gray, Senior Planner - City of Bethlehem

I second this! It would also make drivers more aware for the Highland/Eaton intersection with the crosswalk. (I submitted a request for better pedestrian crossing there.) This particular area makes me nervous someone will be hurt or killed. Thank you for advocating for our neighborhood!

@Brianne Beebe
Thank you Brianne! Earlier this year Donna and I were crossing when a west bound car stopped for us. We started crossing and a pickup truck flew past on the left blowing it's horn and hit the "It's the Law" sign in the middle of the road, so if we had walked another 4 feet would have been hit.
Very scary!
