Blinking stops at Beverly Ave/Eaton Ave

Brianne Beebe•hace 4 meses This four-way stop sign routinely has accidents. Even though it is a four-way stop, it still feels dangerous to cross. Most especially at night, drivers won’t fully stop, or don’t see the sign until it’s late. Please consider installing blinking stops with fine warning signs! Thank you.

Dangerous crossing

Brianne Beebe•hace 4 meses Highland Ave intersection with Eaton Ave at this location is incredibly dangerous for pedestrians. There really should be flashing lights and a crossing button. People speed over the bridge coming West, and it is difficult to see and react to crossing pedestrians. This connects two neighborhoods, and I can’t believe it’s been let to age to worn-off crossing paint and just a couple small signs well off the road. Please consider installing more obvious protection for pedestrians. Thank you

Eaton Ave Pedestrian Crossing

Brianne Beebe•hace 11 meses The pedestrian crossing on Eaton Ave/Highland Ave is extremely dangerous. I believe it’s important to add button-activated lights on the existing signs, as well as paint the worn-off pavement markings. This is a major connection between two neighborhoods with lots of children. Cars coming west on Eaton Ave are typically traveling WAY too fast, over the 378 bridge and do not have enough time to visibly register pedestrians. Pedestrians themselves feel in danger every time they cross, because it is impossible to see what cars are approaching from over 378. There are also often cars entering from both sides of Eaton, from Highland Avenue. On the occasion that the city puts up a pedestrian “standalone sign” in the center of the crosswalk, it usually only lasts several days before I notice it smashed in the road. Isn’t this a sign of what could happen to pedestrians? This corridor is only going to become more busy, as East Allentown becomes more developed and our population in general increases. These two Rosemont neighborhoods have seen a lot more young families move in, as the turnover from elderly residents happens. Please take this request seriously. In my opinion, a lighted crosswalk similar to the one at Moravian (W Elizabeth Ave) would make a huge difference in getting cars to stop for safe pedestrian crossing. It’s much easier for oncoming traffic to notice (and stop for) lights blinking on the yellow signs, than a pedestrian nervously standing at the corner. Painting the pavement where it is worn off (see photo) would also be helpful, but not in and of itself solve the issue. Thank you for your time!

Large Community Sandbox in Rose Garden

Brianne Beebe•hace 1 año This walking loop, shown above with the star, is a perfect location for a large Community Sandbox. Following the existing sandbox at Rodale Park in Trexlertown, parents can use existing benches to watch their kids play or walk the path while they supervise their kids. The Rose Garden Farm Market already creates a great setting for utilizing the sandbox here. Something fun for kids to do while parents shop or visit. You can also still hear the live bands from the stage at this location. Because the circular path is flat, it also would be great for kids scooters or bikes. I also suggest this location, so that sand doesn’t get dumped onto the playground equipment. This is also a more quiet section of the park, away from the busy highway, and I feel it’s underused space that could be made magical! Even the large shady trees are already present.Trexlertown sandbox contains large boulders in the sand, great for climbing or creating with. There is always a selection of shovels, buckets, and lots of trucks available when kids play - free and available for all to use. I know a lot of these are provided by families who outgrow their toys and want to give back. The sandbox there is checked routinely by an employee, making sure there aren’t broken or sharp items.I hope to see this put into action! The perfect location is already present, and the project itself would be much cheaper than new playground equipment… with a huge payoff! There is nothing like this anywhere in the Valley, except all the way in Trexlertown. Thank you!
