Dimitri Hoimes2 months ago Reduce the speed limits on broad and Union from 35 to 25 or add another light or two along the way. Enforcement is not the issue.Crossing Union to get to downtown is hard at the 378 intersection. Nobody stops for pedestrians. Even IN the crossing people honk at you and slow down versus stopping. One time one guy went AROUND someone who stopped for my family to cross and almost hit us. It's where the sidewalk is now closed that intersection....conestoga street. A light would also stop people playing Russian roulette going across to the ramp from Conestoga. People literally don't understand that the turning lane isn't a stop sign it's a turning lane...even if you've waited 10 minutes at Conestoga the people in the turning lane have the right of way. It ends up becoming a race and in the meantime pedestrians are crossing. I don't know how someone has not gotten hit there yet....There IS a light at OBT but that doesn't stop people from going 50+ mph down Union to that point. Even if it's just a push button signal and not necessarily full traffic lights it would make a difference. Same on broad past the dollar store.... another light would make a huge difference or lower the speed limit. Increased traffic in this area caused this. Both roads have much more traffic than even 10 years ago.
